Draw for AFC region qualifiers

Kuala Lumpur: Twelve Asian nations will know their opponents in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 AFC Asian Cup Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 when the official draw is held in the Malaysian capital on Tuesday.

Asia’s 12 lowest ranked sides – India, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Timor Leste, Nepal, Macau, Pakistan, Mongolia, Brunei and Bhutan – will be involved in the draw at AFC House.

The 12 teams (ranked 35th to 46th) are seeded based on the latest FIFA ranking and will be divided into six pairings of two teams. The dozen hopefuls will then play on a home and away format with the games scheduled to take place on March 12 and

Blues Stay Top After 10 Goal Thriller

With the Royal Blues slipping to 2nd place after Carnegies winning 4-1 in the earlier match, a game against Fritz who were unbeaten all last season while taking the title, was never going to be an easy one. Taipei Fritz have  players with both Taiwan Division 1 and international experience and their typical style is one of possession, slick passing and clever movement.Teams who defend deep against this seem to come undone in the end and with this in mind, the Blues started the match with only one intention. ATTACK!


Within 10 minutes of the start Royal Blues pressing high up the pitch allowed Colin O'Bryan to break from midfield ,clear of the Fritz defence and through on goal to slot past the advancing keeper. The pressing didn't stop there and shortly after, a tackle on the right wing by debutant and man of the match Atsushi Yanagisawa led to a perfect cross onto the head of Jose Young Galo

The 2018 World Cup in Russia might be more than three years away, but the journey to Moscow for Chinese Taipei begins next month on either Thursday, 12th March or Tuesday, 17th March.  The bottom 1-6 ranked teams in Asia will play home and away against one of the bottom 7-12 teams in Asia.  The six winning teams will qualify for the group stages, guaranteeing them at least another eight World Cup games.

The good news is that Chinese Taipei are not in the bottom six teams in Asia, meaning that they have avoided some of the heavyweights in the competition, such as East Timor or Cambodia.  However, they will still have to overcome one of the following teams:

Last CPL game

Thomas Costa was the "Carnegies-killer" last night at DaJia riverside in the last CPL game between Red Lions and Carnegies. 3 goals by Thomas secured Red Lions 3 points and the second place in season 2014. The match ended 3:1 for Red Lions and this means, Carnegies FC failed to go an entire season without defeat.
